This gains special importance in the coming stage where national economy is braced for a breakthrough in the face of fierce competition that has become one of the most important characteristics of global economy.
Electricity Sector
Electricity sector as a major part of Egypt Energy resources, has recently made great progress.
Since this sector is closely related to all elements of development in industry and agriculture, this progress is seen as a positive indicator of the welfare of the Egyptian people.
Moreover, in the coming stage, all of Egypt ports will be supplied with electric power, modernization and be completely upgraded to the highest standards.
Investments:
Total investments implemented in the electricity sector during 1981-2005 reached LE 68.5 billion .
Generated Electric Power:
Generated electric power rose to 95.1billion kw/h during 1981-2004.
Available Power:
Available station-generated power showed about 123 billion kw/h during 1981-2004.
Number of workers in the electricity sector rose to 250000 in 2005.
Petroleum Sector
Within Egypt Energy Resources, the petroleum sector, is the backbone of development in all fields.
The strategy of this sector aims to increase petroleum and gas reserves in order to achieve self-sufficiency and to export surplus; thus generating sufficient foreign exchange revenues.
Investments:
The petroleum public sector implemented investments of about LE 1158 million. These investments covers:
- oil exploration,
- production,
- refinery,
- processing,
- transport
- marketing.
Crude Oil and Natural Gas Explorations:
The number of explorations made in 2004 reached about 59.9 million tons .
Manpower:
Number of manpower in the field of crude oil reached about 33.300 workers in 2004.
Number of manpower in the field of petroleum products showed about 30,300 workers.
